Street Volume The First is a survey of street artists across North America, an audio trip that starts in San Francisco and ends in New York City. Each artist on the compilation was recorded on location outside on the street, inside sky ways, at farmers markets, anywhere artists were playing.

The recordings were done on a trip Paul Sobczak took across North America. He started in San Francisco, headed up the coast to Seattle and Vancouver then jumped on a train that took him across the entire continent, from the Pacific to the Atlantic. On each stop stop he searched out musicians playing on the street, which was easy in San Francisco but finding musicians playing outside in December in Canada proved to be difficult, but not impossible.
This compilation is in a what you would have heard if you would have take Paul’s trip, some of the artists included here have fine tuned their craft, others are looking to make a quick dollar, and some were out just to have fun. It is a sonic diary of what Canada and the States’ urban centers sounded like winter 2009.
Each song is accompanied with a photograph of the artists, and some of the tracks also have an introduction that was given by the artists who performed the song.
